Today I ran a tracker app for several hours in NB-IoT mode with my ordinary (=not intended for iot) prepaid elisa sim.

That is really cool and the fact that it is on NB-IoT means that this is actually intended by the provider. Last week at embedded world I learned why some cards are working on LTE-M. Apparently the provider cannot see the difference between LTE and LTE-M in 3GPPP release 13, therefore they cannot disable LTE-M on the regular SIM cards.
